CWG 2022: Day 3 Result - Jeremy Lalrinnunga Won Gold in Weightlifting, Hockey, Cricket, Boxing

Weightlifting:

• Jeremy Lalrinnunga wins Gold medal (67kg) lifting total of 300kg (140kg in Snatch + 160kg in C&J) Braveheart Jeremy got injured but still went for all 3 C&J attempts. Jeremy created New Games Record in Snatch.

• Achinta Sheuli wins GOLD medal with total lift of 313kg (143kg in Snatch + 170 in C&J). Achinta also created New Games record in Snatch & Total lifts. Its 6th medal (& 3rd Gold) for India; all in Weightlifting.

• Popy Hazarika finished 7th (out of 11 contestants) in Women's 59kg category lifting total of 183kg (81kg Snatch + 102 in C&J). Before her, all the 5 Indian weightlifters had won a medal.


Boxing:

• Reigning World Champion Nikhat Zareen advanced into Quarter Final (50kg) of CWG with unanimous verdict win in 1st round. Nikhat will be in action on Wednesday in Quarter Final

• Sagar advances to Quarter Final (+92kg) with unanimous decision verdict win over Cameroon pugilist.  Its the only win (out of 3) for any Indian male boxer today.

• Shiva Thapa goes down to reigning World Championship Bronze medalist Reese Lynch by split verdict (1:4) in R16 (63.5kg)

• Sumit goes down in QF (75kg) by unanimous decision verdict to Australian pugilist.

Badminton:

India storm into Semifinal of Mixed team event with 3-0 win over South Africa. Lakshya & Aakarshi win their respective Singles matches in straight games.

Hockey: 

Indian Men's start their campaign in style by thrashing minnows Ghana 11-0 in their 1st Group match. Harmanpreet Singh scored a hattrick. India converted 6 of their 13 PCs. Next India will take on hosts & WR 6 England tomorrow at 8:30 PM  IST.


Cricket:

•India thrash Pakistan by 8 wickets in their 2nd Group match. India were set up a target of 100 runs which they achieved in just 11.4 overs . Smriti Mandhana scored 63 runs off just 42 balls. Next India Vs Barbados on 3rd Aug (final group Match)

Table Tennis:

•Defending Champions India sail into Semifinal of Men's Team event with 3-0 win over Bangladesh. 
India will take on Nigeria in Semis tomorrow at 11:30 PM IST.

Squash:

• Joshna Chinappa advances to QF of Women's Singles with 3-1 win over WR 95 Kaitlyn Watts.  Next Joshna will take on WR 20 Hollie Naughton tomorrow at 6:00 PM IST.

• Saurav Ghosal sails into QF with 3-0 win over WR 62 David Baillargeon. Next Saurav will take on WR 34 Greg Lobban in QF tomorrow at 6:45 PM IST.

Lawn Bowls: 

India quartet of Lovely Choubey, Pinki, Nayanmoni & Rupa Tirkey are through to Semifinal of Women's Fours event with 17-9 win over Norfolk Island. India will take on Kiwis in Semis tomorrow at 1:00 PM  IST.

Gymnastics:

• Yogeshwar Singh finished 15th (out of 18 athletes) in Final of Men’s All-Around scoring 74.70 points.

• Ruthuja Nataraj finishes 17th (out of 18 contestants) in Final of Women's All-Around event, with cumulative score of 43.000.

Swimming:

• Srihari Nataraj storms into Final of Men’s 50m Backstroke event. Srihari finished 5th in his Heat clocking 25.38 secs; overall finished 8th in Semis. Top 8 Qualify for final. Final tomorrow night at 01:07 AM IST. 

• Sajan Prakash misses qualifying for Final by a whisker in Men’s 200m Butterfly event; clocked 1:58.99 to finish at joint 9th spot overall with Australian swimmer. Only Top 8 qualify for Final.
