IPL 2021: Royal Challengers Vs Mumbai Indian Match 39 Report

Dubai, 26th Sep 2021: Match no. 39 of Indian Premier League (IPL) saw the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) beat the Mumbai Indians (MI) by 54 runs at Dubai International Stadium.

Mumbai Indians won the toss and, skipper Rohit Sharma asked Virat Kohli led Royal Challengers to bat first. Jasprit Bumrah got Devdutt Padikkal on a duck. Royal Challengers lost 1st wicket of Devdutt Padikkal in the second overs at seven runs. Virat Kohli added 68 runs with KS Bharat for the second wicket and 51 runs with Glenn Maxwell for the third wicket. Glenn Maxwell scored 56 runs in 37 balls with six fours and three maximums. RCB posted a challenging total of 165 in 20 overs for the loss of six wickets.

Chasing the target of 166 runs, Mumbai Indians openers Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock added 57 runs for the first wicket. Mumbai Indians were bowled out at 111 runs. Harshal Patel (4/17) and Yuzvendra Chahal (3/11) were the main wicket-takers for the RCB.

Glenn Maxwell was adjudged Player of the match for his brilliant performance. Maxwell scored 56 runs and letter on snapped 2 wickets.

Match Summary: Royal Challengers Bangalore 165 for 8 (Virat Kohli 51, Glenn Maxwell 56, Harshal Patel 4/17) beat  Mumbai Indian 111 for 10 (Rohit Sharma 43, Quinton de Kock 24, Jasprit Bumrah 3/36) by 54 runs.

RCB consolidated at 3rd place with 12 points in the Points table, and Mumbai Indians slipped at 7th position.
